Four part harmonies? Acoustic and electric guitars? Drums, bass and organs? Yup, that’s us. We are an original band with a strong focus on Roots / Americana style Rock, that kind of sounds like a weird cross between The Black Crowes, Ben Folds Five, and Wilco. Imagine taking the best musical styles of the past 30 years and combining them all into one young original band, and you get Road Kill Roy. A tasty blend of music that can go from “damn baby, I love you” all the way to “dude, I think I’m gonna’ get these guys to play at our tailgate party” in one set. RKR was best described by a bartender at a show in the summer of 2009… ”It was really cool, the bar line was more than ten people deep, and when (the) guys started playing everybody just sort of stopped… and you saw this kind of ‘awestruck’ look on everybody’s faces, and you could tell what they were thinking – ‘who are these guys… they’re really good!’

“Perhaps Bob Marley said it best: “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.” This could not be more true for live music. To me, there is nothing better than going to see a band perform. No matter what my mood was that day, if the energy from the band is on point I seem to find myself forgetting about all my troubles and letting go of all the negativity that can so easily creep up and take control of you. It is even more uplifting when you come across a group of guys that have come together as a band for all of the right reasons. This is exactly what you get when you have the opportunity to see Road Kill Roy perform. These five individuals from the Richmond area play music because it” – Brandon Samuel - Magazine 33
"Road Kill Roy was a lot of fun to watch. You could tell the guys were up there to have a good time as they played a bunch of covers including “Wagon Wheel” and Gavin DeGraw’s “Crush” plus plenty of original material they’re recording for their new album. If you get the chance to check them out, you’ll definitely be glad you did." – Richmond Playlist
“ Everyone is the audience was listening with great intensity as the sounds of an organ pierced the air and provided a unique element to each of the songs. It would be hard to classify the music that Road Kill Roy plays, mainly because they have their own original flare that is as intriguing as it is organic.” – Brandon Samuel - Magazine 33
